There are many Car Rental operators including international
names such as Avis, Budget Rent Car, Dollar, and Hertz. However, to rent a car in Jamaica,
you must be 25 years of age or over and have a valid and current driver's license. North
American driver's license is valid for up to three months, U.K. driver's license is valid
for up to 12 months and Japanese driver's license is valid for one month all from the time
of arrival. In most cases a deposit is required to secure a vehicle and either cash, major
credit card or travelers cheques are acceptable. Gas stations are open daily and only
accept cash. Driving is to the left, speed limit is 30 mph (50 km) in towns and 50 mph (80
km) on highways. It is required that you carry your driving documents and license at
all times when driving. |
