If you are a licensed
HAM and like DX, t hen you will be comfortably accommodated and have all the facilities
to hand. Sit back, watch the sunset, perhaps whilst sipping your favourite drink and
chatting away to other Hams around the world..... paradise at your service.
My radio equipment
comprise a TS940S, TSD570D,TS520SE, IC706, 2M & 70CM. Ant system is a 2 element
quad on a 30ft tower and covers 10, 12, 15, 18 and 20. A
Heathkit SB220 amplifier is on hand for that little extra power, but the
terrain lends itself to such a good take off in all directions, especially
favouring East/West, it's not essential. There are 2m repeaters on the
island and if required mobile operation with the Icom 706 can be good fun for that special /m contact.
6Y5/G0NJZ,
Tom came back again this
year and spent another two weeks soaking up not only the great WX but also the
rare DX. To his credit he now has close on 4000 plus QSO's from Jamaica on most of the
bands. Also 6Y5/VK2IR Tommy recently completed his island hopping
Dxepedition here in the shack whilst indulging in copious amounts of Jamaican Red Stripe
beer........he completed 3500 contacts Ausie style.
As an alternative or in addition,
you are welcome to bring along your own transceiver(s) and portable antennas, cables,
