Now you can get local-call access to the
Internet from every major city in the world through InfoChannel's
True Global Internet Roaming service enabled through iPass!
This is a cost-effective solution for business travelers and telecommuters
who need to make long-distance telephone calls to access their home
Internet accounts.
What do you need to use
the service?
All you need is an InfoChannel
account and the iPass connection software. There are
two connection software options: iPassConnect for Windows and iPass
Dial Wizard for Macintosh. The connection software has a very simple
point-and-click interface that allows you to connect to a local access
number from around the world in seconds. InfoChannel
provides this to you at no additional cost. You maintain one account
with InfoChannel and always use the same
user ID and password.
What are the benefits?
- Roaming charges are significantly
less than long-distance charges
- Get better quality Internet connections
with local calls
- Log into a local number from around
the world with one account
- Gain access to all Internet services
such as e-mail and the World-Wide Web
- Receive only one bill for all Internet
and roaming charges
How Does it Work?
iPass
forms relationships with ISPs around the world that have
the highest quality Internet access networks and that provide access
in far reaching locations. iPass
provides software to InfoChannel that enables
these access networks to be available to you. This software facilitates
secure routing of user authentication requests over the Internet between
InfoChannel and other providers.
When you travel outside of our regular
service area, you can dial into any of the world-wide iPass access points using your iPass connection software. You will
log in with your standard user name and iPass password (appending @infochan.com
at the end of your user name, e.g. ppp?????@infochan.com). Your authentication
request will be encrypted and sent over the Internet to your home
provider's authentication server. The server will check your information
and send an authorization response (or denial if appropriate) back
to the ISP you are dialing into so that you can gain access to the
Internet. This process takes about five to ten seconds. iPass tracks the time you are connected
to enable your ISP to accurately bill you for the services used.
